Provision of the website and server log files
When you access the website, the system processes technically necessary access data so that the website can be delivered to your device and the security of the service can be ensured.
The following data in particular are processed:

- Message indicating whether the request was successful or failed

The purposes of the processing are the technical provision of the website, error analysis, IT security and the prevention of misuse.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(e) GDPR in conjunction with the responsibilities of Technische Universität Braunschweig and, where security interests are concerned, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Where state law applies, processing is also based on the data protection provisions for public bodies in Lower Saxony.
Log data are stored only for as long as necessary for the stated purposes and are deleted after no more than 7 days. They are stored for longer only if this is necessary to investigate security incidents.
Hosting and technical service providers
The website is technically operated by the Gauß IT Centre of TU Braunschweig.
Recipients of the data may include the responsible technical administrators at Technische Universität Braunschweig and the hosting or operating service provider used.
Cookies and similar technologies
The publicly accessible DS3 website does not use analytics or marketing cookies. No audience measurement is performed using Matomo, Google Analytics or comparable tracking services.
Technically necessary cookies may be used where required for the operation of WordPress, security functions, or protected administration and login areas. These cookies are not used to create user profiles.
The legal basis for technically necessary cookies is Section 25(2) TDDDG. Where personal data are processed, the legal basis is Article 6(1)(e) GDPR or Article 6(1)(f) GDPR for ensuring IT security.
Contact by email
If you contact the DS3 project by email, we process the data you provide. This may include, in particular, your name, email address, institution or organisation, the content of your enquiry and technical email metadata.
The purpose of the processing is to handle your enquiry and communicate with you.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(e) GDPR where handling the enquiry relates to the responsibilities of Technische Universität Braunschweig and the DS3 project. Where an enquiry concerns steps prior to entering into a contract or project-specific cooperation, Article 6(1)(b) GDPR may also apply.
Personal data are deleted once the enquiry has been fully handled, unless statutory, organisational or project-related retention obligations require otherwise.

The website contains links to external services, in particular to participating universities, funding bodies and project partners. When you follow an external link, you leave the area of responsibility of Technische Universität Braunschweig.
